IFSSH Special Committee on Educational Sponsorship

Aim

The aim of the IFSSH Committee on Educational Sponsorship (CES) is to financially support the development and harmonisation of hand management worldwide through the IFSSH Member Societies.

Composition

The Chairman of CES shall be the IFSSH Secretary-Elect, the Nominating Committee Member-at-large, and the Chair of the next IFSSH Congress.  The CES will produce a full report at every annual general meeting of the IFSSH Delegates Council.

Applications

Applications for IFSSH sponsorship shall be submitted to the Secretary General of IFSSH (administration@ifssh.info) and will be considered by the CES Committee.  The decisions taken by this committee shall be ratified by the Executive Committee of IFSSH.

Eligibility for Sponsorship

National Societies who are members of the IFSSH or individual members through their National Society may apply for financial support for Hand related educational and research projects, instructional or refresher courses, workshops or fellowships.

The application will only be considered if ALL of the following criteria are met:

  1. Application may only be done by a Member of an IFSSH National Society.
  2. The Application must be recommended by the Executive of the Member National Society.
  3. The purpose of the project/initiative must clearly be defined.
  4. Who will benefit from this sponsorship?
  5. How will those in point (4) be benefited?
  6. What are the long-term effects of this initiative/project?
  7. Who will be involved?
  8. A detailed itinerary/programme must be included.
  9. A detailed budget of the requested funds must be supplied.
  10. A full report shall be sent to the Secretary-General of the IFSSH not later than three months after completion of the event.

Furthermore, the CES will consider financial support to attend the triennial IFSSH Congress.  A letter of request with background information regarding the economic status of the individual should be stated.  This support is usually granted through a substantial reduction of the registration fee.

IFSSH Congress Assistance Grants:

"The IFSSH Executive has decided to consider assisting hand surgeons financially to allow them to attend one of the IFSSH Congresses. It is intended for surgeons who come from poor or developing communities who earn very little (e.g. about US$1000 /month) and who, without financial assistance, would not be able to attend the international meeting. Applying for financial support depends heavily on the integrity of the individual who applies. Applicants should give reasons for requesting the support e.g. monthly income, absence of any other sponsors, motivation for attending the congress, amount needed (a maximum limit will be applied), professional position including hospital, field of work, work experience, supporting letter from a chief, superintendent, head of department and how the knowledge and experience gained would benefit the applicant.
An application does not mean that funds would be automatically granted. Each application would be individually evaluated and depend on the availability of funds.

Forward applications to the Secretary-General of the IFSSH.
